Klara's Kitchen - Food Bank for Those In Need

A Monthly Food Bank across multiple parishes in Hamburg, Germany supporting those in Need of Physical and Spiritual Nourishment

Klara’s Küche as its called in German is a “food bank for body and soul in Hamburg.” For people marginalized in our society, it offers food, groceries, clothing, and a sense of belonging. In the parish halls of St. Francis and St. Olaf, the team of volunteers serves a hot meal on the second-to-last Saturday of every month. At both locations, and additionally at the St. John's parish, those in need can purchase groceries for one euro per filled bag. A clothing bank is also attached. According to the parish, 200 to 250 people are served on distribution days. "Klara's Kitchen" relies on monetary and food donations. Nevertheless, the organization must raise approximately 3,000 euros per month for additional supplies.
